Tile Patterns

• Grid (Straight): Tiles aligned in a simple row-and-column grid. Easiest to install with the least waste. Best for square tiles.
• Brick (Running Bond): Each row is offset by half a tile width, like a brick wall. Works well with rectangular tiles and hides imperfections in walls.
• Herringbone: Rectangular tiles placed in a V-shape at 45-degree angles. Creates a striking visual effect but requires more cuts along the edges.
• Diagonal: Standard grid rotated 45 degrees. Adds visual interest and makes small rooms appear larger, but produces more edge cuts.

Cut Calculation

The planner simulates laying each tile in the chosen pattern across your area. Any tile that extends beyond the boundary is counted as a cut tile. The tool reports:

1. Full tiles — tiles that fit entirely within the area
2. Cut tiles — tiles that must be trimmed at the edges
3. Total tiles — full + cut tiles needed (before waste)
4. With waste — total tiles plus waste percentage for breakage and mistakes

Waste Guidelines

• Grid pattern: 5–10% waste
• Brick pattern: 10% waste
• Diagonal pattern: 15% waste
• Herringbone pattern: 15–20% waste
